Comic Writing Plot -
Buck has been riding his chopper through the desert since first light. Now finally up ahead he sees a big grey concrete building surrounded by a tall rusted chain link fence. “Hmm?” he says to himself. He revs the bike and speeds towards the building. As he gets closer it becomes clear that the building is abandoned. He finds a door that’s unlocked and begins to open it. Slowly he creaks it open, first the tip of his sawn off shotgun begins to peek around the door, then the top of his head, then his sunglasses. He’s ready for anything and as his eyes adjust to the darkness inside he sees… nothing. The corridor is dark and filthy, but there’s nothing but some shelves supporting a few dusty cans and some some deserted cobwebs. Buck moves silently into the building, he removes his sunglasses and places them into his jacket pocket. Slowly he moves from room to room, this place has clearly been looted before as the place is lacking in useful supplies.
Buck rounds a corner and creeps down a hallway to a heavy looking door. He tries the handle, it doesn’t budge. As he steps back from the door he hears a deep guttural growl from behind him. Without pausing to think he spins and levels his gun into the darkness where the noise came from. He sees a white blur of teeth and claws as a Vampire launches itself out of the darkness towards Buck. Buck squeezes hard on both triggers and sends two rounds into the beast’s chest. The sharp sound of the gunfire bounces off of the walls making Buck’s ears ring as the creature is sent flying backwards, landing heavily with a dull thud against some shelves knocking empty cans and boxes to the floor. Where there was once flesh and bone there is now a gaping wound, the Vampire’s torso has been blasted out of it’s back. The skin that was pulled tightly over the sharp, angular bones has been ripped away by the impact of the blast exposing it’s fleshy innards.
However, even as the creature lays prone against the shelves Buck can see the wound begging to knit itself back together, sinew and muscle crawling back towards each other, the ribs push themselves back into place and slowly start being covered by new tissue. Buck dutifully loads two new shells into the shotgun and the Vampire begins to snarl up at him again as he moves towards it. He presses the barrels of his shotgun against the creature’s forehead, it doesn’t even notice, it just continues to snarl and glare viciously at Buck with sunken dead eyes. Again he squeezes the triggers and feels the recoil in his arm as the back of the beast’s skull explodes. The body slumps against the shelves and it’s limbs fall limply to the floor. Buck reloads the barrels once more and begins wiping blood off of his gun and shirt front but stops when he hears another noise behind him. Again with cat-like reflexes he spins on the spot and levels his gun with the noise, it’s the creak of the previously locked door slowly opening. Buck tenses the muscles in his arm ready to fire both rounds into the creature pushing the heavy door open. Then a small tear streaked face pokes around the edge of the door. A shaky wimper is muffled behind the door and Buck slowly lowers his gun as he realises it’s a child.
The little girl creeps around the door and takes a step towards Buck. “Are the m-monsters g-gone?” she squeaks in a small voice, eyes wide. Her skin is a soft mocha colour but she’s visibly pale in the face, she has a light frame and is very small, a fact emphasized by the dirty oversized sweater she’s wearing. She’s tugging nervously at the fraying hem and shifting her weight back and forward. “For now.” Buck says solemnly. “She must’ve snuck in here to hide, are her parents around here somewhere?” he thinks to himself. “Well… This place isn’t safe, I think you should come with me little one.” he says gently to the girl and beckons her to follow him. She nods and they walk quietly back through the long dark corridors back out into the dry evening air. The girl blinks up at the sky and then at Buck. "So... you got a name kid?" he grunts as he makes his way towards his bike. “My name is Elizabeth Yeung, Liz for short” she says in an obviously rehearsed way and responds with “What’s your name mister?”. He unclips his helmet from his bike and kneels down in front of Liz to place it on her head, he does the buckles under her chin aa she pushes her hair back out of her face. The helmet is far too big but “better safe than sorry” he thinks to himself. “My name’s Buck” then standing up and moving towards his chopper he says, “Let’s get outta here Liz”.
